On [DATE], American Public University System combined with Rasmussen University and Hondros College of Nursing to form a single higher education institution. American Public University System (System) now includes American Public University, American Military University, Rasmussen University, and Hondros College of Nursing. The System is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Public Education, Inc. (APEI). We are continuing to update our website to reflect our new structure.
M.S. Sports Management Assessment Results
Program History
The Master’s in Sports Management program at American Military University and American Public University launched in 2006. In 2007, Dr. Brian Freeland was hired as the first full-time Program Director to manage the M.S. in Sports Management. At that time, there was a concentration in Sports Management in the B.S. in Sports and Health Sciences program. During the summer of 2013, the B.S. in Sports Management officially launched as a standalone degree path. The Sports Management programs were housed in the School of Management, moved to the School of Business in 2014, and then relocated to the School of Health Sciences in 2015. In 2017, Provost Vernon Smith separated Sports and Health Sciences from Sports Management, and Dr. Jim Reese was hired as the new Program Director to fully concentrate on the new stand-alone Sports Management programs. Currently, the B.S. in Sports Management includes 511 students, while the M.S. in Sports Management includes 242 students.
